UWCV 2023 Campaign

United Way of Central Virginia is celebrating 102 years of impact in our community. United Way is the link, through services, referrals, and financial support, to creating opportunities, change, and a better community for the citizens of Central Virginia. However, this could not happen without the support of our community.

As a result, United Way and our donors are opening doors to a better life for our neighbors in need.

The campaign materials provided here are for use by companies to encourage and facilitate employee giving. Participating companies can post these materials internally and make them available to their employees.

Last year, United Way of Central Virginia helped 52,566 people.

That’s 1 in 5 people in our region.

FAQs

  • One of United Way of Central Virginia's primary methods of raising funds for our agency partners is through the workplace campaign. This is when a business gives its employees the opportunity to donate through payroll deduction. A payroll deduction donation allows employees to completely bypass federal taxes on that portion of their income and put the money directly back into their own community.

  • Contact Ula Kauppi, Director of Resource Development, at 434-455-6900 or ula.kauppi@unitedwaycv.org and she will help you get started!

  • Check out our campaign toolbox which has campaign tools you can download and use. Many workplaces do fun special events to boost employee participation: think chili cookoffs, golf tournaments, cornhole tournaments, bake sales, raffles, and auctions. Management and leadership staff can offer to match their team's contributions to set an example.

  • You do not have to donate through your company! Many individuals in our community support United Way of Central Virginia with their own donations. You can make a donation at our online link or send a check to 1010 Miller Park Square, Lynchburg VA 24503. United Way of Central Virginia also accepts donations of appreciated stock, which allows you to avoid capital gains tax! For more information, contact Ula Kauppi, Director of Resource Development, at 434-455-6900 or ula.kauppi@unitedwaycv.org.
