October Food Drive
October 1 - November 11 at
It is that time of year again! United Way of Central Virginia just hosted our kickoff week from September 10-14! As we gear up for an incredible year, we are thinking about those in our community that are food insecure.
We are continuing our October Food Drive again this year! We need your help to reach our goal of 7,000 pounds of food!
During the month of October, local food pantries are in need of our help as their summer supplies dwindle. This is a great time of year to help re-stock their supply as the holiday season is approaching.
Every year, the food benefits about 12 local non-profits: Bedford Christian Ministries, DAWN, Lake Christian Ministries, Neighbors Helping Neighbors, Park View Community Mission, Rivermont Area Food Pantry, Piedmont Community Impact, Prospect Food Pantry, Blue Ridge Area Food Bank, Salvation Army, Missionary Food PBank and Reap.
Although we already have several drive locations across Central Virginia, we encourage YOU to contact us about hosting a drive. The process is quite simple, you contact us, we bring a donation box to your drive location (ex. church, business), and at the end of the month we will come collect your donation box.
The list of items that we will be collecting is as follows:
Apple Sauce, canned soup, coffee/tea, mac&cheese, rice, canned fruit, canned veggies, canned meats, condiments, cereal, dish soap, flour, pancake mix, syrup, baby food, pasta sauce, sugar, hamburger helper, juices, instant potatoes, beans, sugar free options. We are also collecting hygiene items, paper products, dish soap and bleach.
Please contact Olivia Beavon if you are interested in hosting a food drive at your business! We supply the box and marketing materials for the drive! Help us meet our goal!
Special Thanks to the businesses who are already hosting Food Boxes & serve as drop off locations!
